About Yongbeom
Der südkoreanische Countertenor Yongbeom Kwon zählt zu den aufstrebenden Stimmen seines Fachs. Mit warmem Timbre, technischer Brillanz und ausdrucksstarker Gestaltung ist er auf bedeutenden Konzert- und Opernbühnen Europas präsent.
Seine Ausbildung erhielt er an der Universität der Künste Berlin bei Prof. Deborah York und Prof. María José Montiel; derzeit studiert er dort im Master Lied/Oratorium/Konzert bei Prof. Deborah York. 2025 gewann er beim Farinelli-Wettbewerb für Countertenöre in Karlsruhe den 3. Preis und den Publikumspreis.
Als gefragter Bach-Interpret arbeitete er mit dem Bachkoor Holland, dem B’Rock Orchestra, dem Concertgebouw Kamerorkest, dem Deutschen Symphonie-Orchester Berlin und trat unter anderem in der Berliner Philharmonie und im Konzerthaus Berlin auf. Sein Operndebüt gab er 2024 als David in Händels Saul am Theater Koblenz; weitere Höhepunkte umfassen Brittens Canticles an der Wiener Staatsoper (NEST), zeitgenössische Musik sowie internationale Engagements in Ungarn, Frankreich, Wien und den Niederlanden.
South Korean countertenor Yongbeom Kwon is one of the most promising voices of his generation, acclaimed for his warm timbre, technical brilliance, and expressive musicality. He appears regularly on leading European concert and opera stages.
He studied at the University of the Arts Berlin with Prof. Deborah York and Prof. María José Montiel and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Lied, Oratorio and Concert with Prof. Deborah York. In 2025, he received both Third Prize and the Audience Award at the Farinelli Competition for Countertenors in Karlsruhe.
A sought-after Bach interpreter, he has collaborated with Bachkoor Holland, B’Rock Orchestra, Concertgebouw Kamerorkest and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, appearing at venues including the Berliner Philharmonie and Konzerthaus Berlin. He made his acclaimed operatic debut as David in Handel’s Saul at Theater Koblenz in 2024; further highlights include Britten’s Canticles at the Vienna State Opera (NEST), contemporary repertoire, and engagements across Hungary, France, Vienna and the Netherlands.
한국 출신의 카운터테너 권용범은 따뜻한 음색, 뛰어난 테크닉, 깊이 있는 음악적 해석력으로 주목받는 차세대 성악가이다. 섬세한 표현력과 강렬한 무대 존재감을 바탕으로 유럽 주요 콘서트홀과 오페라 무대에서 활발히 활동하고 있다.
그는 베를린 예술대학교에서 Deborah York, María José Montiel 교수를 사사하며 학사를 마쳤고, 현재 Deborah York 교수의 지도 아래 동 대학원 Lied/Oratorium/Konzert 석사 과정을 이수하고 있다. 2025년 카를스루에 Farinelli-Wettbewerb für Countertenöre에서 3위와 청중상을 동시에 수상했다.
Bachkoor Holland의 정기 솔리스트로 활동하며 B’Rock Orchestra, Concertgebouw Kamerorkest, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin과 협연했고, Berliner Philharmonie와 Konzerthaus Berlin 무대에도 올랐다. 2024년 Theater Koblenz에서 헨델의 Saul 중 David 역으로 성공적인 오페라 데뷔를 했으며, Wiener Staatsoper (NEST)의 브리튼 Canticles, 현대음악 초연과 함께 헝가리·프랑스·비엔나·네덜란드 등지에서 활동을 이어가고 있다.

As Bernstein specified, this solo must be sung by a boy or a countertenor…
The presentation of the Audience Award created particular suspense, being a ‘tight race,’ as Christoph von Bernuth, Opera Director in Karlsruhe, emphasized: ‘Out of 318 votes cast, one received 92 and the other 89.’ … In the end, Yongbeom Kwon won over the majority of the audience's hearts with his warm timbre and extraordinarily alluring expression….. This prize also went to Kwon, who thus received two awards at the first Farinelli Competition in Karlsruhe.
